Adelaide Zoo houses more than 1,800 species of animals. It covers a total area of 8 hectors. It is an ideal option for outdoor activities during holidays. All the mammals, birds, reptiles are kept in beautiful botanic surroundings appropriate for them. The zoo is divided into different sections. There is an immersion section that holds tigers, baboons etc, children’s zoo with pet animals that children can hold and feed, and little creatures section with insects, reptiles etc. The zoo also has picnic and rest areas, energy saving toilets, separate toilets for the disabled, changing room for babies, cafe, and vending machines. The children zoo also has a shop that offers zoo focused items. For emergency purpose, they also have a fully stocked first aid room along with a first aid attendant.
The zoo also arranges children activities through events such as Halloween night at the zoo, food festival at the zoo etc. Births and mirages of animals are celebrated through special exhibits for the visitors. In kind, memorial services are held on the death of animals. Different private functions can also be held in the zoo premises e.g. family fun days, conferences, sales day etc.
Adelaide Zoo also offers the facility of guided tours to its visitors. There are three types of guided tours. One is walkabout tour that lasts for 30 minutes. Then there is a behind the scene tours. It allows the visitors to see the animals up close in public off limit areas. Third and last is the up close experience tour. It lasts for 15 minutes and provides the visitors to mingle around with lemur, squirrel monkey, or to feed the lions.
Adelaide Zoo is open 7 seven days a week providing memorable experiences to thousands of visitors.
